What Do We Do?
We work cooperatively with placing agencies and adoption attorneys and take an active role in preparing our clients for adoption through the following services:
• Pre-adoption Counseling. A private, no-obligation consultation session in which we can answer your questions and concerns about adoption, as well as explore whether or not adoption is right for you.
• Domestic and International Resource Counseling. Once a couple or individual decides to pursue adoption, we can help guide them through the search for the program that best fits their needs. With more than two decades of experience, CHSA has worked with hundreds of domestic and international placement agencies, through which many kinds of programs and options are available. We have developed a working relationship with many that we feel are exceptional in their professionalism, scope of experience, and degree of client satisfaction. We offer professional, educationally focused services that our clients have found to be extremely valuable as they proceed through the adoption process.
• Adoption Home Study Evaluations. Required as part of the adoption process, a Home Study is an evaluation by a licensed agency to determine whether a couple or individual interested in adoption can provide a stable, loving home for a child. CHSA has a wealth of experience in preparing Home Study Reports that meet the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations and Interstate Compact requirements. As part of the Adoption Home Study process, we provide our clients with an educational presentation that addresses many of the adoption-related issues that they may meet as they raise their child. The seminar also addresses issues relating to the adoption of children from abroad who have spent some period of time in an orphanage prior to joining a family. [For more on Home Studies, read our Frequently Asked Questions.]
• Post-placement Supervision. If you need follow-up visits and reports on the progress of your child after placement (either for finalization of the adoption or as reports required by the child’s country of origin), we will provide them.
